ABOUT US
Dr.
Van der Haegen is Founder & Managing Partner of
Cell Culture Solutions. In this capacity since 2002, she has
directly coordinated customer projects and provided technical
advice and support. By implementing design of experiment tools
to cell culture development, she has substantially improved the
quality of services provided by the Company. Dr. Van der Haegen
has more than thirty years of experience in mammalian cell culture.
Her first contact with cell culture occurred as a doctoral fellow
under the guidance of Dr. Richard Ham, where she was extensively
trained to study cell nutritional requirements in culture. Efforts
by Dr. Ham’s team led to
pioneering work in serum free medium development and growth of
countless primary cells previously inhibited by serum. Dr. Van
der Haegen also gained industrial experience while working in biomanufacturing
companies. She held R&D management positions at Becton-Dickinson,
Sigma-Aldrich, and BioWhittaker, where she coordinated the development
and release of new cell culture products for application in the
research, diagnostics and biopharmaceutical markets. Previously,
as a university faculty member for eighteen years at the University
of Sergipe, Brazil, Dr. Van der Haegen specialized in the study
of epithelial-stromal interactions, and developed a system for
the investigation of mammary epithelial cell growth, differentiation
and senescence. Dr. Van der Haegen holds a PhD in Cell Biology
from the University of Colorado, Boulder, an MA in Biology from
the University of Missouri, Columbia, and an MD, Pathology from
the University of Bahia, Brazil. A business profile of Dr. Van
der Haegen is also posted in LinkedIn.
Mr. Martin is also founder and co-Partner of
Cell Culture Solutions, where he serves as an instrumentation consultant,
assisting customers with the calibration and validation of laboratory
instruments. Mr. Martin is a field engineer metrologist with more
than thirty-five years of experience with equipment calibration
and validation in both the biomanufacturing and defense industries.
In his present position as a metrologist for Raytheon Missile Systems,
he ensures that support equipment meets all Department of Defense
specifications traceable to the National Institute of Standards
and Technology (N.I.S.T). Prior to Raytheon, he worked as a consultant
for Interim Technology supervising the development of a test plan
for the USPS’s Vehicle
Tracking Analysis & Performance System. As a member of the Quality
Assurance team of BioWhittaker, Inc., he organized a calibration
program that met FDA and ISO 9000 requirements for that biomanufacturing
company. While at BioWhittaker, Mr. Martin was certified in thermometry
by the N.I.S.T. He also served as Laboratory Manager for Electro
Rent and Metric Resources and as Lead Electrical Engineer for Ford
Aerospace and Communications Corporation where he assisted in the
ground floor organization and operation of the Kuwait National Metrology
Center.
